Across 23 stored Ofgem quarters, January – March 2023 is typical-bill #1 of 23 at £4,279 (standing rank #15) ≠ October – December 2024 standing #1 of 23 at 92.65p/day (typical-bill rank #14). Standing charges and the typical bill do not peak together.

How this calculator works
According to Ofgem, the default tariff cap for July – September 2026 is £1,862 a year for a typical dual-fuel household on direct debit, using 2,700 kWh of electricity and 11,500 kWh of gas. This calculator starts from Ofgem's published unit rates and standing charges for that period - 26.11p per kWh of electricity and 7.33p per kWh of gas, plus standing charges of 57.19p and 29.04p per day, and applies your region's cap factor and your chosen usage to estimate an annual and monthly bill.
The figure is an estimate for a standard-variable, direct-debit tariff, published by Ofgem and refreshed each quarter; it does not reflect prepayment or standard-credit rates, fixed-deal pricing, or supplier-specific charges.
